Church Thanksgiving

We just came home tired and happy from our church thanksgiving and Year End fellowship. We had our exchange gifts and potluck lunch, each family brought their share of food. We brought Lechon Manok and our town's specialty - Aling Kika's Special Bibingka which has became my churchmates' favorite especially now that we bought it hot from the store. Honestly I didn't had a chance to count the foods as there are many kinds set on the buffet table.

We want to thank the year that passed and welcome this new year with praise and thanksgiving. It was an exciting exhange gift as one by one we claimed our gifts and discovered the giver. It's also my day of giving my gifts to my godchildren in the church and every member of our church. We gave small things to everyone for keepsake. The kids were the happiest, needless to say why :-)

Arrived From the Camp

Just arrived from our camp meeting and though I would want a longer rest I still have to arrange our tons of things from our 4-day stay at the camp. DH went to his work and I'm glad I have my two girls with me to help me with the chores we have to do. We started after lunch because we really have to take it slowly as we're all tired from the travel back to our home. We still have many things to do like buy gifts for all relatives, some small keepsake for our church friends and kids, gifts for the godchildren and grocery items for New Year's Eve. Marketing for the recipe menu, desserts and fruits will have to be scheduled on another day as it will be too much for us.

The kids were all excited telling stories to my Mom and told her they wished it was longer than four days. They really enjoyed their time at the camp and they're asking me now when we'll return there. Told them we'll be there three months from now again and they all shouted with joy. Wonder of kids' enjoyment never cease to amaze me.

Just checked my emails, tasks in due and visited some sites, no time for work I guess! The holiday fever is affecting me so much!

All My Bags are Packed

I'm so glad that I finally finished packing our bags for a 4-day stay in Villa Dominga Resort. Since the place is far from department stores and markets I made some detailed lists of what we'll be needing for the camp meeting. My list include clothes for 5 persons, food for 12, water for 2 days, foodie items for kids including biscuits, cupcakes, tetra drinks, chocolate, candies (more like a picnic for them), canned foods, beddings, tents, cookwares & utensils, emergency kits, medicine and many others. Just need to check the things for the car like car kits, flashlight, jack.etc.

I always have ready lists every time we have our camp meeting and I have separate for December and another for summer because I need to bring more warm clothes and jackets for December camp. I'm a heavy baggage person but it's advantageous for all of us as they didn't have to worry about anything when we have our camp. I always bring all the things that they need. Now I'll only have to prepare my travel bag, the one that I carry with me during travel which includes little of something, some food while on travel, candies when someone felt dizzy, celphone, camera, wallet, hankies and pens. Well I think that should be enough for DH to pack in the car.

I've cooked enough food for the first two days, I've prepared foods that will not spoil easily like tocino, hamonado, fried chicken, fried hotdogs, pork adobo, boiled pork, salted eggs with tomatoes, for any recipe I'll be cooking there. I'll have to rest now for our long travel later at 4 in the morning!

It's My Birthday!

It's my birthday and all I want to do is thank God for all the blessings He has bestowed me and my family. This is my first birthday that I celebrated solely with my family as with the previous years I always celebrate it in the office at daytime and with my family at night time and many separate dinner celebrations with different set of friends. I'm having a day off today and had some rest before I pack our things for a 4-day camp fellowship. I had a morning birthday feast with DH, kids, Mom and siblings. My brother's family came middle morning and our kids played endlessly, happy to spend my bday with them. I only wish for continuous love, peace, happiness , physical and spritual good health for all of us.

My Girls' Christmas Party

My two girls are big enough to take care of themselves and their teachers informed us the PTA officers that the children will host their own party. But due to some mishap in the food delivery of Shakeys' in school their teacher asked help from mothers who were there to help in games and exchange gifts as it was a real pressure on her part to have food delays with kids impatiently waiting for their lunch. Me and Josh went there after Josh' party bringing with us Josh' Jollibee food pack. He told me that he wanted to eat beside his Ate Gen.

Anyway the party went well despite the Shakeys' mishap and Gen was lucky to have won two bags on the last phase of the game. We (the parents) had our own food to eat and we brought our potluck to a nearby house in school and had our lunch there with pasta, lechon manok, desserts and drinks. It was a tiring but happy day and I'm glad that I'll be resting from waking too early in the next few days because they'll be on their christmas vacation, yahoo!

Josh' Party in School

Yesterday was Josh' last day in school before the holidays and he's so excited in going to school with their exchange gift. Actually he wanted to have his own gift but because its color is pink he didn't want it anymore. He was so happy that he won in one of the games in their school. For the past school activities his group always loses the game that's why this time he's beaming with happiness when he received the price. He has so many friends that they always sneaked from the party outside their room and played with his friends inside their room. I just called him when a new game begins. He saved some of his food for our visit to his sisters' school. He told me that he'll eat his Jollibee meal with Ate Gen. We hurried up but still we reached his sister's school after 10am just in time for the games.

:TC - Educational Toys

"TOYS"
(Cars, Dolls, Video Games, Puzzles, Balls, Board Games,...)

These are board games (Snakes and Ladders) and Imagination Set of building blocks where blocks were combined to create cart, house, etc. I've chosen these creative and educational toys for my kids' exchange gift on their school party tomorrow. I always want children to have educational toys because it helps improve their learning and creativity skills. And I know kids would love having them as gifts. Hope they'll like it.

MYM#2 - Josh at Bumbling Boulders

MellowYellowBadge

Josh and his friend Carl enjoyed the ride at bumbling boulders. At their entry they were asked what color of boulder they want to ride on and they excitedly chosen yellow (just perfect for this meme :-)) Anyway the ride will make the boulders spin around as the whole group of boulders
move also. It's kinda dizzy to me especially upon watching my video. I'm amazed that the kids didn't complained at all, they just love it!

T-Rex in Glass

Completed T-Rex in Glass Bell Jar

Saw this one at Etsy while I'm having some blog hopping and looking for some gift ideas. And why T-Rex? Because my son loves to collect everything and anything about dinosaurs. He just love it! He loves watching it in DVD and he makes us tell the story of the real dinosaurs before it vanished after the Ice Age. His curiosity will make your nose bleed lol!

Anyway this tiny paper T-Rex model which is only over an inch tall was a handmade product of Etsy and you can buy it for $60.00 USD. It can be a nice decor to your homes, an additional collection to dino collectors, a paper weight or some other uses. For other handmade gift ideas just browse over other products at www.etsy.com

Coco BonBons Dress for your Tiny Tots

I’ve been thinking about what dress should my niece wear on their party next week. She wants something simple and white with touches of different colors. Honestly with the current trends of clothes we see now in department stores we usually get headache or drowned by the wide choices they have.

Nowadays it’s safer and you can save not only on your time but on your budget as you’ll not be coerced by salesladies to buy more.

Do You Live in the Past, Present or Future?

Keep thinking about this question and before it nags me I tried this test

You Live in the Present

You take things one day at a time.
And it turns out, that's a pretty great way to live.

You aren't consumed by the past, and you're aren't obsessed with the future.
You live in the now, and you enjoy each moment.

While most people don't live in the present enough, make sure you don't live in it too much.
It would be a mistake to forget your past or neglect to plan for the future.

Well at least I live in the present and not regretting about my mistakes in the past, this is rather important to me as the past for me is just good memories of my childhood and when my father is still alive. I live in the present but I value what I had in the past. The future I know will be well and good for me and my family as God will always be there for us.

Tips for your Heart – Reducing the Risks of Heart Attack

I’ve known some friends who were younger than me and only in their early thirties but already suffered from stress-driven heart problems. I’ve found out from research and observation that often those people who are most prone to heart attack are people who set up artificial deadlines and tough goals for themselves creating too much stress in their lives. I’ve lived some of my younger years at work with tough deadlines and I know how much stress it brings to your whole being.

If you’re one of these people try to limit the artificial stress you create. Ask yourself if these deadlines are necessary, if your goals can’t be relaxed or modified a bit. Make sure that all your goals are attainable because that’s what giving you stress, in coping up with so many expectations. Give yourself a break, a breathing space, relax and enjoy life. Or you could read this simple program to do to lower your risk of heart attack.

1) Don’t smoke and don’t drink
2) Go for a brisk but not stressful walk everyday
3) Eat a healthy-low fat, low-cholesterol diet
4) Maintain a moderate weight, just the right one for your built
5) Practice positive living which includes relaxation, communication and sharing your feelings to reduce stress in your life.

All these easy techniques and program will make you feel better. Feeling better about yourself reduce stress and that will be a factor in reducing the risks of heart attacks. Easy does it? Better than spending some days confined in a hospital when you suffered heart attack. As I believe that an ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure.

Bonifacio Day Parade/Cainta’s 438th Anniversary

Since it’s a national holiday we’re complete in the house except of course my DH whose job never seems to have holidays except for Christmas, New Year and Black Friday. Yes, that’s the only holidays they have in their company whose one of the known appliance store in the country. We waited for the big parade but when it finally came it wasn’t what I’m expecting for. Several years ago the Nov. 30 parade which celebrates two occasions – Bonifacio Day and our own town 50th anniversary foundation (fiesta). I’m expecting more content in the parade but I surmised that life is really difficult these days that’s why they only have simple celebration.

Anyway the parade consisted of chosen people in various barangay, some women’s organization, some colleges and schools, some companies in our town, there’s also a fraternity group there with long line of group chapters. Forgive my thoughts but I was in a trance with the theme of the parade and I’m wondering why they’ve included different kinds of never ending Ati-Atihan groups which solicits money while on parade. It showcase a group of gays scantily clad in women’s underwear with black paint and dancing to the tune of Ati-atihan dance without a hint of the real native dance. The real Ati-atihan natives would be disappointed when they get to see these imitators.

I’m just glad that there are bands of musicians in the parade representing primary schools which included my kids’ and my Mom’s school of course. They’re in their best costume and effort to bring music and the little majorettes were simply cute. They’re my daughter’s classmates. I love music and I enjoy seeing different musical bands with their specific instruments which seems to be a heavy load for them especially the drumset lol! They’re good and they’re well practiced. It’s a good thing that they come in different groups to balance the long parade.

I also like the exhibition of motorists who presented some heart falling stunts, I just love the 5-year old rider whom I’ve seen also last year. Some of my shots are awful as people walked in front and sides of the parade obstructing cameras from taking a nice shot. At the end of it I was surprised to see a group representing KKK and finally I was relieved that indeed it was a Nov. 30 parade. I was hoping that I will see more but that’s all there is.

Click images for a larger view

This is Quintum equipment (white one) which I'm very familiar with because it's one of the many equipment used in my previous work in telecommunications company. This is used for VoIP (Voice over Internet Phone) switching solutions. This is commonly used by start-up VoIP service providers like my former company.

P.S. Atop the quintum is a router which we are very familiar with because we used it so we can use the internet simultaneously with other users. Another good technology.

Reusable Shopping Tote Bags

4As the climate and environment seem to be acting abnormal nowadays the concerned people and some government entities are calling for us to preserve our environment. It means that we should preserve natural resources like trees, rivers and lands. We should be aware also solid waste management. We should try minimizing garbage and promote recycling of products. I’ve been watching some shows about this one and been reading online when I saw these reusable shopping tote bag which promotes the ‘Go Green’ movement.

What Does Your Walk Says About You?

Your Walk Says You're Approachable

You are outgoing, funny, and friendly. You love attention, and you make sure everyone knows when you enter a room.

Other people see you as humble and down to earth. You don't put on airs.

You are careful, thoughtful, and detail oriented. You tend to test people's patience, but your patience pays off.

You are a kid at heart. You love to have fun and believe that life is for living.

This makes sense to me as I'm really an outgoing and very friendly person that even our messengers and janitors in the office can be my lunchtime mates lol! I'm not choosy about people's status as long as they're kind and honest. Try this one out if you want - here!

What Motivates You?

Women love shopping and it’s actually ok as long as it’s qualified in your budget, if not think twice and thrice before indulging yourself. Sometimes we shop because we think we need some clothes, shoes or bags but most often than not we don’t need it. I’ve read somewhere that some women shop endlessly whenever they feel insecure on their looks, on their weight and sometimes when they feel that nobody loves them.

So shopping becomes the solution for emotional turmoil women are feeling for themselves. So why shop and spend lots of money on it then afterwards you’ll still feel the same emptiness inside you. Would it be better if we talk to our closest friend and try to seek an advice? Or do something to make you feel beautiful, plan a simple diet plan that will slim you down. Sometimes the solutions can be easier and cheaper too!

Cute Little Purse

This Little Twin Stars purse & pass card holder with strap item reminds me of my school days when almost all of our purse, stationery, pens, hankies and girly items are from the Sanrio characters. I had one like this not of the expensive kind but almost same in style and colors.

When I came to see this online at ebay.com I immediately looked for the price as I would want it for my youngest daughter, it looks so cute to me and very convenient to use. It’s only US$5.90 and shipping is free but when I show it to Gen she wanted a different one. It reminds me that the new generation now have their own favorite characters and since Gen is already 10 years old this purse would be too cutie for her. She’s also not so fond of girly items.

I'm a Treat not a Trick!

You Are a Treat

As a kid, you didn't cause too much trouble, and the adults adored you. Now that you've grown up, not much has changed.
You know that a little sugar is the way to get what you want in life, and you are as sweet as they come.

You like to make things better in the world, and you don't mind following rules... no matter how silly they may seem.

You are a truly good person, and there's very few of you in the world. Anyone who knows you is blessed!

Actually sometimes I'm a trick!!!

Back Pain Relief #2 - The Locust

This is the 3rd back pain relief which style resembles the locust that's why it's called that name. This is different from the other two exercises - the cobra and the snake.

1. Lie on your stomach, hands by your side, palms up.

2. Raise your head and place the front of your chin only on the floor.

3. Make fists of your hands and place them under your thighs in your groin.

4. Inhale, stiffen the body and push down on your arms. Bring your legs up in the back as high as they will go.

5. Hold this pose for 15 seconds, or as long as you can while holding your breath.

Exhale and lower your legs. Relax and repeat the exercise as often as you wish.

Perform this and the other two exercises on a regular basis once or twice a day and expect a good change in your back strength and a decrease in your back pain. Actually I'm prone to back pain and aside from sharing this tip I'm also a recipient of this one, I'll do this also.

Back Pain Relief #2 - The Snake

The second back pain relief I'll be discussing here is the snake style. This is a little different from the cobra style I mentioned in my previous post.

1. Lie flat on your back with your arms at your sides.

2. Slowly stretch out your arms from your sides, moving them above your head. Stretch your entire body this way while taking in a sow, deep breath as you suck in your stomach. Try to keep you mind calm and clear. Think only of the breath moving in and out of your body.

3. Slowly put your arms back down to your sides as you exhale. Feel your entire body relax. Repeat the exercise as many times as you would like.

That's all there is to it. It's simple, but powerful. Your back will love you for it.

Back Pain Relief #1 - The Cobra

This is part of the three-part relief exercise from back pain:

1. Lie flat on your stomach, hands by your side, feet together
2. Place your hands, palms down, besides your waste. Your fingers should be pointing forward.

3. Inhale as you begin to lift yourself up on your hands, bringing the head back and arching the spine as far as it will go. keep your legs straight. Don't bend your knees - you want to lift yourself up, kind of as if you were doing push-ups with paralyzed legs. Think of the way a cobra lifts its head up and leaves its body and tail on the ground.

4. As you lift yourself up, you don't have to keep going until your arms are straight, but keep your pelvic area pressed firmly to the floor.

5. Exhale. And ower yourself back down gently. Repeat the exercise a number of times. You will feel your tightness diminish with each repetition of the exercise. You should try to hold yourself in the upward position for about 15 seconds.

Will post The Snake and The Locust style of exercise later.

Tips for Smart Shopping#2

More shopping tips here:

1) For your wardrobe it’s easier to buy clothes that you can mix and match, this way you can match your new purchases with your clothes in the wardrobe.

2) Your choice shouldn’t be overruled by price only. You should also think of quality over price. Also if you don’t need the item or if it doesn’t fit you don’t buy it even if it’s 70% off. If you buy the wrong size or wrong color I’m sure you’ll have no use for it and it will just join your unused clothes in your cabinet.

3) Last, you tried to focus on things that you can afford, leave those very expensive things you want but too high for your budget. Try to be smart in spending your money.

My Mom told me that the great rule in shopping is ‘Do not buy what you don’t need and don’t need what you cannot buy’. Sound very practical isn’t it?

Tips for Smart Shopping#1

As it's nearing holiday seasons which is also the shopping season I have here some shopping tips here before you start heading on to clearance stocks sale or any sale you might encounter, be sure to read then before you shop. Just a reminder actually:

1) Start with the excess money you have for shopping, be sure to spend only what you have allotted for the shopping spree.

2) Please don’t buy what you don’t need. Sometimes we were so amazed with the great sale that we tend to buy oversized clothes or things that we don’t have usage for. Remember a good bargain is not just about the price but if you’ve spend lesser cost for the things that you need but can’t afford in the previous days.

3) Make a list of what you really need. It’s always important to have a list of what you own and what you still need for your wardrobe, accessories of house things.

My Big Bro's Bday!

zwani.com myspace graphic comments
Just posting this greeting to my big brother, the eldest among us and the only boy in the family which makes him the favorite son of my Mom and who else if he's the only one lol! Anyway he may not see this greeting as he's the busiest man in the planet but I still want to greet him just in case he decides to start blogging. I'm coercing him to blog because he's a good writer and has plenty of inspiring thoughts to share, he's a minister in the church and has the kindest heart I know! Well he's my brother and who else will know his best traits but his family. Just wish him the best of everything he love because he deserve it. Happy Birthday Kuya!

September is the month for inventory sale and if you’re the kind who loves bargains and deals this is the month that many department stores splurge on big sale because the following month is the start of the stocks for the coming holiday seasons. They want bigger space in their stores for a much bigger volume of stocks for the holiday seasons which are the peak of the year. It's a good month for buying the things that you wanted previously but expensive for your budget. If you really wanted that item you can search it on this month of big discount sale.

Jen helped me with redirection and we followed her tutorial written in one of her blogs. If you also have problem with redirecting your blogspot into a Go Daddy domain you can follow her tutorial here. After careful analysis and repetition of procedures I finally located where I went wrong, it’s something at the alias. At first I was beginning to feel tired and weary but when it finally redirected into facilityserv.net I was happy enough.

Ruth is a Big Girl Now!

My daughter turns 12 last month and I was really surprised at how she grew up so fast. She’s almost my height now, I think she’s 5’1” now. I wonder what could be her height when she reaches eighteen.

Though she’s very tall now she’s still a baby to me and her acts and ways are still very girlish. She still wants to spend her birthday with us and enjoy her time with her siblings. She’s still obsessed with cakes and ice cream and some other child’s hobbies. She’s also into cooking just like me and it seems that if she pursues her hobby I should be saving my money now for her culinary classes. I thank God that Ruth reached her age with the best of health, good attitude and witty minds!
