My Mom’s Special Day

It’s been two weeks since my Mom’s birthday and we had a happy celebration as always. If the previous birthdays were packed with visitors this recent birthday of Mom is for close family only. We didn’t invite anyone because we had chicken pox in the family and we want to rest a bit so we limited the celebration’s guest to just her family only. As always we have flowers for her because she loves flowers that much and we always see to it that she has flowers on every important occasion of her life. Although we didn’t have those Malden city flowers online she’s very grateful and happy to have roses on her special day.

Remembering her birthday now it’s the most relaxed I ever had. I usually can’t eat when I’m the one cooking and preparing but this time I eat ahead of them while cooking the pasta. I arrived somewhat late from my intended half day leave. I was home at 4pm and started preparing then. My Mom was actually worried why I came home 2 hours late from my scheduled time but when she saw me she was instantly relieved. It’s a wonderful day for all of us especially for me and my siblings, my kids, SIL, nephews, nieces and my friend Jen.

White Roses for My Birthday

I have had many happy birthdays in the past but today I can say that I really had a wonderful birthday because my husband was with me all day. In the past these holidays were their peak dates and no one’s allowed to take a leave from work especially him who holds the stocks in their store. He would always run just to be home late afternoon or early evening. Now after giving me his very special bunch of white roses similar to the one I saw in proflowers he told me that he’ll just wait for my task to finish and we’ll be off to the mall for early dinner. He really knows I love flowers and it could melt my heart anytime. Do you believe in falling for a man several times? I just did.

Well the kids and I were all very happy that he resigned from his job who doesn’t allow employees to have day offs and leave of absence on holiday month. I can’t believe we’re having him all for ourselves now lol. Of course I’m happy and no amount of money or elegant gift can beat the special bonding moments we had on my birthday. Forgive me for being so sentimental, I guess it goes with adding an age on your calendar!

:Photo Hunt#226 : Orange (Flower)

I don't know the name of this flower, I just love its vivid color of tangerine. At first glance I thought it's from the family of Hibiscus but on closer look I found that its leaves are different and also the shape of the petals. This shot was taken in Nabas, Aklan together with my other today's flower entries in my main blog. I've got plenty of shots from this town's rich soil.

Flower Arrangements – Line Arragement

As I’m so fond of flowers just like my Mom I always want to read anything about them and how they’re arranged. Here are some tips on how you arrange your pretty flowers on your vases and pots.

There are three kinds of flower arrangements namely mass, line and floating arrangements.

First you’ll have to know where to place your arranged flowers. If you decide to place it on top of the table against the wall, on top of your bookshelf or on top of the piano you can arranged it using the line arrangement. Before choosing the flowers try considering the container and the color scheme of the room first. You’ll need few sprays. Don’t put away the flowers with curved or crooked stems as it will make your flower arrangement interesting.

In this kind of arrangement you can use one kind of flower but select the biggest or the most perfect as the center of interest. Arrange the rest of the flowers around it to emphasize that flower. This arrangement should have long-stemmed flowers. Cut the stems of varied lengths of good proportion.

You can also use different kinds of flowers for this. The tallest flower may be placed in line with the center of the vase. Don’t forget to add some drooping sprays to carry the eyes downward if the arrangement is above the eye level.

:RT/WW - Petite Blooms

I love looking at small dainty flower blooms, makes it worthy to focus my cam and do some macro shots! What makes this one special? This one has survived the big Ondoy flood and Mom was so happy that after several days it bloomed beautifully! Flowers make my Mom's day special!

She has a green thumb when it comes to plants and flowers, she got it from her parents who've grown rice, fruit trees, coco trees and various veggies in their land in Laguna (40's and 50's). Quite a history!

The Hearts' Day

zwani.com myspace graphic comments

I always associate this day with hearts and flowers. I remember cutting out and doing plenty of heart shaped guitar bookmark when I was in my high school days and giving it to all my friends. If someone didn't received one of my cute bookmarks it means that I don't consider her my friend but if you've seen the bulk of my bookmarks you'll guess that all are my friends :-) I'm a very friendly kid in school and I made my friends feel that they're remembered on valentine's day except of course the boys because I don't give out anything to boys (that's why I'm accused that I'm boyish) lol!

Now that I'm a Mom I'm still very fond of hearts and flowers but I love the white roses that DH gives me always! When I studied the meaning and implications of different flowers and their colors I learned that white roses signifies 'worthy of love', sweet isn't it? My husband is and he accused me that I'm not lol! Not so serious of course he just wants to tease me with that :-)
