What to Consider When Choosing a Production Studio

Production music plays a vital role in the way stories unfold in movies, videos, commercials and television. Often, it is the unacknowledged backdrop that keeps a viewers attention focused on an intense plot or compelling characters. Before you choose the right music for your next studio project, here are some things to consider.

Pay Attention to the Studio Location

There are practical benefits the right studio should afford its clients. If you are a part of the sound production work doing voice overs, singing or helping the musicians and engineers come up with the right sound, you will need to be prepared to spend hours in the studio. For that reason, the studio should be close to eateries, lodging, convenience stores and other places you might need to dash to in order to make yourself comfortable. Isolated studios that are too remote are always ideal.

The studio should also have access to most of the tools you will need to complete your project. For example, if you are first recording sound, but intend to merge your tracks with video, it is practical for the studio to also have a video service offering. One stop shopping is economical and convenient.

Take a Tour of the Space

Perhaps this should go without saying, but many music clients choose a studio based on hourly or project rates alone. While it is understandable that every budget must be closely monitored, the price alone should not determine which is the best studio for a particular project. The space should inspire the people who are working on the music or sounds. It should have good acoustics, lighting, or lack of lighting, if that is what inspires the work, and soothing decor. The more comfortable the space is for clients, the easier it is to complete a project.

Additionally, it is important to notice the layout of the studio and the size of the live room. If there is a need for more than one person or a band to be in the same space recording, the studio should be able to accommodate everyone comfortably.

Ideally, the production space should be one that fosters comfort for people with a wide range of personal tastes. In order to keep up with the needs of clientele, studio owners must find ways to make their work space versatile. Clients who feel at ease are likely to block more studio time.

The Essential Scrapbook Tools for Beginners

Sometimes it pays to have a hobby or a diversion to get your minds off the stress of work and home. Most stay at home moms are into scrapbook making. This is a good way to make those memories last for a long period of time. And since kids will usually gather a number of pictures throughout the growing years, it is only common to have them as subjects for your scrapbook.

If this is a hobby that you would like to try, better head to the arts and crafts store to get the basic tools you’ll need to start a scrapbook. Now you might get a little overwhelmed with the number of tools and accessories available. For your first scrapbook, go for something easy and simple to do, then you can move on to more complicated designs as you become more familiar.

One important tool to have is the paper trimmer. It comes in different types and sizes with measured markers to make cutting easier. Using a trimmer will save you time since you wont need to do everything by hand.

Use a cutting mat to protect the surface of your table from scratches or markings from sharp blades and glue. A pair of sharp scissors should also be included on your scrapbook tool kit. Don’t forget to stock up on acid free adhesives, double sided tapes and mounting squares which you’ll need when you layout photos and papers.

Embellishments and small decors will add life to your scrapbook kit. Now once you have your tools in place, you can start having fun on your first project.

:Mellow Yellow Mon/Ruby Tuesday: Hibiscus Painting

MellowYellowBadge

Click the image to enlarge pic

This is the Philippine's most common flower Hibiscus in which the painter drew his imaginative ideas from.  It's a simple painting but it caught my attention as the colors are so vivid especially the background splash of Yellow and the Red Hibiscus making it appropriate for my MYM and RT entries.  Simplicity is beauty and so is this painting especially when you see it personally.  Btw this painting shot was taken in the resort we rented last Aug. 12 when we took a day off our work and activities to celebrate pastor's birthday.  There are 3 paintings in that resort and I'll showcase the other two in my future entries.  Got stock of them huh!

Happy Monday everyone! For other entries just click the top logo!

Studying Ceramics and Pottery

Being artistic and having some creativity with crafts runs in our family, well at least to my brother and most of my first cousins. My cousin has a gift for all kinds of artistic skills including painting with pastels and charcoal, and also with graphic arts, signs and everything you want done with the use of his magical hands. He’s really perfect in his skills and talents. My other cousins and their kids inherited the same skills and even though they finished college in other fields of study, they have all gotten back to using art in current their jobs. I guess some people just want to work where their hearts are.

As to our own family my brother has the best art talent of all of us, with my sister and I having some drawing and lettering skills. All of my kids are showing skills in that area too. I smile when I think of how artistic talent is passed on through generations. Well I hope these skills transfer to other areas, such as learning ceramic arts as I just love so many of those beautiful hand crafted pottery items. As I may have said before, I can always use some more unique pots for my flowers and plants, so I am hoping to try my artistic skills with some pottery lessons one day. I think taking a ceramic arts class will be the best as then I learn about different clays and using throwing wheels, slab rollers, and kilns.

I got some information about pottery making online at AMACO/Brent. This amazing website sells everything having to do with pottery from clays, glazes, and ware carts to throwing wheels, kilns, wheel replacement parts and more. They have all of the equipment, tools and accessories you’ll ever need for ceramic arts, along with many resources for teaching clay art such as art lessons, videos, dvds and instructional books. I know I have a lot to learn before I make my first flower pot, but I am going to be looking for a ceramic arts class in my area. Its always good to be learning new things, and I think I'll especially enjoy calling on my artistic talents to see what I can do.
